A charming piece of Toronto dairy history, preserved in pure Canadian beeswax.

The Bird’s Hill Sour Cream Candle recreates a returnable dairy container from the 1940s. Its remarkably detailed front embossing reads “Bird’s Hill Sour Cream—Dairy Product—Toronto,” while the reverse reads “5 cents for return of bottle” and includes an embossed picture of a cream bottle.

Bird’s Hill later became part of what is now Western Creamery in Brampton, Ontario. This candle preserves that Canadian dairy history in a completely unexpected form: a solid beeswax candle with no glass container.

Its round, compact shape displays the embossing beautifully and provides more than 50 hours of warm beeswax light. It makes a distinctive gift for antique-bottle collectors, dairy memorabilia enthusiasts, Toronto-history lovers or anyone decorating a farmhouse or vintage-inspired kitchen.

Hand-poured by Pioneer Spirit in Sudbury, Ontario, using pure micro-filtered Canadian beeswax. It contains no added fragrance—only the naturally light honey aroma and warm golden colour of genuine beeswax.

Each candle is individually hand-poured. Slight variations in golden colour and finish are natural characteristics of genuine Canadian beeswax and handmade craftsmanship.

CANDLE CARE

Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant plate before lighting. Trim the wick to approximately ¼″ before every burn. Never leave a burning candle unattended or place it near drafts, children or pets.

PURE CANADIAN BEESWAX Our candles are hand-poured using pure Canadian beeswax. No fancy equipment, just steady hands and an eye for perfection. And of course, all of our ingredients are sustainably taken from small, Canadian beekeepers who respect their bees and the environment. We do not add paraffin or synthetic fragrance to our pure beeswax candles. The subtle, naturally occurring honey-like aroma comes from the beeswax itself and may vary from batch to batch. Because beeswax is a natural product, slight variations in colour and aroma are normal and are part of the character of genuine beeswax.
